The new Casio STB-1000

in Updates / by Steve Kusmer
January 7, 2014

Casio STB-1000Today we’re happy to announce support for the new Casio STB-1000 fitness watches.

The Casio STB-1000 is a new sports watch from the legendary G-Shock family, and it will be available in March for a list price of US$99. It’s water-resistant down to 100 meters, and will last up to two years on a single coin cell battery. Amazing.

What can it do?

  • Start/Stop – Press Start/Lap to start our app, and Stop to stop. It’s simple and convenient.
  • Lap – When you’re underway, press Start/Lap to mark a lap point, which records all your stats from the previous lap point or from the start, as well as your location on the map.
  • Pages – Use the Mode button to move from page to page showing your statistics.
  • Auto Backlight – Press Light to turn on automatic backlight. Flick your wrist, and the backlight goes on briefly.
  • And so much more.

Our support for the STB-1000 is intensely configurable. Are you a cyclist wanting to see  your trailing split average adjusted power?  Or your previous interval heart rate?  Or control your music?  Or change what each of the five buttons do? Make the display auto-scroll? Can do!

Support for the STB-1000 will require  our Elite upgrade, which is available now in Runmeter, and will be available soon in Cyclemeter and Walkmeter. Our support of the STB-1000 will be available far in advance of the March availability.  We will send you an update in More > News in our app when it is available and how to purchase.

We thank our partners at Casio and Wahoo Fitness for their support during development, and we can’t wait until it is available to our customers!

To learn more about the Casio STB-1000, visit Casio Sports Gear, read about it on Gizmodo and read the press release.

10.1 Runmeter with Elite

in Updates / by Steve Kusmer
December 9, 2013

Elite is a powerful new upgrade that continues our relentless drive to offer the most advanced GPS fitness apps for the iPhone. This is our eleventh major update since 2009.

Here’s what’s new in the initial version of Elite, which is available now for Runmeter, and will be available in early 2014 for Cyclemeter, Walkmeter, and 5K Runmeter.

shot-dashboardHistory Dashboards – View column charts and pie charts covering all of your workouts. Columns can be stacked by activity, with a Y-axis of more than 25 different statistics (from number of workouts to average heart rate to total ascent), and with X axis covering day, month, year, routes, activities, plans, bikes, shoes, and all.  Easily filter by activity and by time period. Navigate to particular workouts by tapping on the chart.  Charts can be zoomed with a pinch gesture. History Dashboards are accessible at the top of the History tab.

History Key Performance Indicators – Have a particular chart that is important to you?  Just add it to the Key Performance Indicators.  It will be updated automatically after every workout.  History Key Performance Indicators are accessible at the top of the History tab.

shot-terrainGoogle Maps, including Terrain and Traffic – In addition to Apple Maps, Elite adds support for Google Maps, including terrain and traffic maps. Just go to More > Settings > Stopwatch > Map and switch to Google Maps.

Orient Map to Heading – In both Apple and Google Maps, the map can be automatically oriented toward where you are headed.

Weather Recording – We record the current weather conditions (temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction, and type) for every workout. This is based on your location, and does not require any additional sensors.

RFLKT and RFLKT+ – Supports the RFLKT and RFLKT+ bike computers, including temperature and altitude sensors. (If you previously had purchased RFLKT support with an in-app purchase, you will continue to have access to your RFLKT or RFLKT+ without Elite.)

Elite costs US$4.99 per year, with similar pricing in other countries. The initial Elite feature set  is only the beginning. As we continue to develop major new features, we will add them to Elite, making it even more valuable to you for achieving your fitness goals.  We’ve chosen a per year pricing model because we want our efforts focused on keeping you satisfied year after year, rather than having to add features that attract new customers. If we keep you happy, then you will renew Elite each year, and that is our goal for years to come.

PLEASE NOTE: We are not taking away any features from current customers. You do not have to pay any additional amount to keep using features you have already paid for. We will continue to fix bugs, update for new versions of IOS, and provide support. We’re the same company and the same people with the same values. If you encounter an issue or find that something is missing, let us know and we’ll take care of you.

To upgrade to Elite, update to 10.1, and go to More > Elite.  Elite is a simple in-app purchase. It does not auto-renew, and we will remind you when it is time to renew.  If you do not renew, you can continue to use our app to record workouts, just without Elite capabilities.

Thank you for being our customer.  We look forward to serving you with superb applications for years to come.
